Rotary-IBM-PMI Project Management SeminarRotary Seminar

PMP certification has become a qualification sought after around the world. Several IT and IT enabled services companies, all over the world are actively associated with PMI and they have a number of certified project management professionals (PMPs) in their respective companies.

In the year 2000, PMI Bangalore Chapter formed a partnership with Rotary Bangalore West & IBM, and decided to have a one-day seminar on Project Management to provide an overview of good project management practices. This was addressed to entry-level project managers and who aspire to takeup project management as a profession. This seminar found good participation over the years and the program conducted on 9th September, 2006, was the 7th consecutive annual program.

The objective of the seminar, besides providing an overview was to augment the funds of Rotary Bangalore West for their social projects. Thanks to the efforts of a dedicated band of Rotarians this year's program was a grand success with a registration count of 219 participants.

This year the seminar started off at 9.00 AM, in the presence of our invited chief guests DG Rtn Srikanth Chatrapathy, Sri.Yogesh Dayal - Vice President, IBM Global Services, Sri. V. Amar Bhaskar - President, PMI Bangalore Chapter and Executive IBM Global Services. The seminar was conducted in 4 sessions with a faculty consisting of Mr. Murali Santhanam, PMP from IBM, Mr. Subramanian Seetharaman, PMP from IBM and Mr. V.S.Subramanian, V.P. Education & Certification, PMI Bangalore Chapter. The sessions covered Project Management Framework, Management of Project Integration, Scope, Time, Cost, Quality, Risk, Communication, Procurement and Human Resources. The entire program designed and conducted by PMI Bangalore Chapter ended at 5.30 pm. Overall the program was very well received by the participants and the feedback has been excellent. It was highly satisfying to note that the program delivered true value to the participants.
